What is the name of your state? NJ

Ok, there was a call left on a friends phone number for me. Below is exactly what was said.

"This is Ms. Rivera. I'm trying to contact a John or Kristina XXXXXX. I'm calling with the Law Offices of Giove. If you could please return this call. Due to the personal nature of this case, Federal law does prohibit any type of disclosure of details concerning when its a legal matters to an answering service. THat's why it's imperative that we speak. Once you do call, please refer to case number XXXX. My number is XXXXXXXX. Again the case number is XXXXX. Failure to return this call will result in further legal action being taken against the party that we need to speak with. I'm going to wish you good luck. Thank you."

Does anyone else find it a bit problematic that she made it quite clear that "legal action" is pending? Another thing is that John is my FATHER. She's not allowed to tell him anything either, correct? He's not on the account that they are apparently trying to collect.

Thoughts?

Double post?? Huh?

I'm assuming you're saying a double post because I've posted other questions regarding this collection act? The way I see it, my previous posts are in regards to other things. This one is specifically about thie phone message that, to me, is at least borderline, if not illegal. I wanted to get other opinions out there to see if I was being over sensitive or not.

That has nothing to do with my asking if I should just ignore a company who I have found places that say they're a scam or if I should send a letter of Validation to them.

It's two different topics.

They are definitely tipping the scales with that message. At the very least, they are implying legal action is ALREADY under way when it is, in fact, NOT the case.

Keep the recording.. it might come in handy.

Alright, if you're going to heckle every person who replies to this post, I want to know what you mean by a double post. Where is there some rule that you can't ask multiple questions about a debt?

Keep all your questions in one thread...it is very confusing otherwise. :D

I actually feel differently. I think it makes it very difficult to follow a thread if you keep asking various question that are not directly related to the first post. Questions get skipped, answers get mixed up. It's much easier to have the subjects separated. Especially if one is asking specifically if a voice mail message is overstepping the legal boundaries, regardless of what specific debt they are calling about and the other is a general question about if I should even bother to persue a debt that is being chased by a group running a scam.
