VIndictive, Ukiah, could you let me know what you find out? One of my other pet peeves with my ex is that he typically listens in on the phone conversations between me and my daughter when she visits. I'd love to catch him in the act next time out. One time, he was even dominating the conversation, telling me about his various girlfriends and what they were willing to do (support him and pay his way thru school, etc), if he came to live w/them. In front of his daughter. He dominated the conversation, and then, when he ran out of things to say, sang to the radio cranked up, while my girl and I tried to talk.

Okay, it's not vulgar names, or other really ugly stuff, but it's rude, to say the least.

get your daughter a cell phone and call her on that phone when she visits the ex.

My daughter thanks you for the suggestion. At 7, she is already after me for her own cell phone. However, although I had considered getting her one for my own convenience, it had not occurred to me to send it with her to Seattle.

Her dad's a great abuser of telephone time. Do you know if it is possible to password-lock the things? If not, anyone know a cell phone manufacturer and a patent atty? I've got a great idea....

I know there are ways to lock cell phones w/a password - ask the guy at the cell store.

There is also a phone card that I think you can buy through SPARC (www.deltabravo.net ?) that is restricted as far as the numbers it can be used to call.

I'm just not a big fan of giving little kids cell phones.
