What is the name of your state? california

are there any conditions under which making photocopies of textbooks for sale is legal? i.e. obtaining some liscense, right, or permission

or are photocopies of textbooks for sale illegal outright?

i know under certain circumstances, for example, where making 1 photocopy is legal (fair use, library services, etc.)

but i'm interested in selling photocopies of textbooks and paying royalties for it if that makes it legal
i'm not sure if that's even possible though

thanks!

Wouldn't it just be easier to buy a copy of the textbook in the first place?

*** Yes. If you contact the copyright holder and get written permission.

"or are photocopies of textbooks for sale illegal outright?"
*** They are unless you get permission of the copyright holder.

"i know under certain circumstances, for example, where making 1 photocopy is legal (fair use, library services, etc.)"
*** Not true. ANY copies are technically illegal unless you have permission or own the song, book, etc. Just that there is no enforcement for a single non-commercial copy.

*** Do you really have that much money to lose??? If so, go ahead. The textbook publishers are always looking for new 'revenue streams'.
