I've searched and have been unable to find anything that addresses my question.

A friend of mine sent me photo's of herself, she was also the photographer. Our friendship has ended and now she wants the photo's back, am I required to give the photo's back? I don't want to, I still have good memories of the friendship and want to keep them. They are for my personal photo albums and are not on public display or used anyway publicly.

It was a gift to you. It's yours.

Your friend still owns the copyrights to the photos, but no, you do not have to return the photos to your friend if you don't want to.
