What is the name of your state? California

I have divorced not too long ago, and have since remarried. I presently carry medical insurance, through my work, for my two children from the previous marriage. As a result of past family dysfunction, my children need to see a Psychologist, also covered by my insurance. My ex presently has no job or ability to cover medical expenses for the children. Now for my question:
Is there any state law, regulation, policy, etc. that requires me to get the approval or concurrence of my ex before I choose and send my children to a therapist?

I appreciate all help on this issue. What is the name of your state?

If there are no court orders that address psychological couseling....or that the two of you have to agree where that is concerned....Then I say shrink away..or don't.

Court orders rule.

Who is taking who to a psychologist & why?

If there is no mention of this issue (and if you want it and X don't)..and the X feels strongly...expect to be back in court soon.

I maintain medical insurance as well for my children and my ex does not work. She is listed as the custodial parent, and we have joint custody. Our Order states that medical decisions are a JOINT decision.

What does YOUR Order say about who makes the medical decisions?

Unless the ex is the reason the child is in therapy to begin with. ;)

Oh, I'd bet good money that there's much more to this story than what OP has decided to share.
