What is the name of your state? What is the name of your state? MI
I am writing on behalf of my father, a practicing phycian for more than 25 years. About 5 years ago he was working in rural hospital in Michigan when he made a technical mistake (billing) where he was planning on doing a surgery and he said in the chart that he performed the physical before he did because he knew he was going to do it the morning of the operation. the operation got cancelled, and when the CEO of the hospital saw the records (very small hospital) he accused my father of wanted to make more money by saying he did the physical when he actually didn't (falsifying records basically for monetary gain). The CEO reported him to the Michigan medical board and after 2 years of court, lawyer, etc, they gave him a punishment of a restricted license for 3 years. this basically means he can only work under the supervision of another physician and every 3 months or so that physician has to report to the board that he is working, etc. My father has not been able to find work anywhere under this punishment. Its been almost 3 years since their decision, but the restriction does not go away unless he is working, so basically it will never go away if no one allows him to work (get privaleges at the hospital, company, etc). Is there anything he can do to get this overturned? what other options does he have? This matter is taking a hard psychological toll on my father. He feels useless and is depressed because he can't work. I'm hoping someone out there has some hope for us. Thanks so much
