What is the name of your state? Michigan

Hi.
I ordered a $1900 item that was never received. The well known carriers driver did not request my signature and suppposedly left it on my doorstep in a nice semi-upscale neighborhood.

I notified the both the shippee and shipper of the lost pkg and now the carrier driver has stopped by to talk to my wife with an accusing demeener and have her sign a a form stating we did not recieve pkg. Harass #1

Now an investigator of the carrier company in a suit has stopped over to talk to me in a series of accusing questions about the pkg (in front of my kids) and had me sign another form and has requested me to file a police report. Harass #2

I am reluctant to do so (file report) since i'm not sure the pkg was even delivered to my home.

I called the police and asked them if I should file a report and they said not to bother since it will not be for a ins. claim for me nor was i positive it was even at my door.

I told this to the carrier investigator and he said 'ok then, i will file the report but you my have some detectives question you and your wife about incriminating circumstances such as why the item was never replaced etc etc (a xmas gift to my wife that we decided was too expensive etc etc) Harass #3

This has really upset my wife and we both get nervous about being questioned about such things.

Do I have to answer any of their questions anymore or be put through any police detective questions arriving unannounced etc etc

What should i do??

ThanksWhat is the name of your state?

Get over it.
Move on.
Walk away.

I don't see "harassment" here at all. And I've been googling your state + harassment and reading for the last 10 minutes. What have you done to find out?

ok thanks, to get over and move on is probably the best solution. I just dont like their accusations and peddling at my door asking the same questions over and over.

You could write a statement which answers the questions you've been asked in the past. Then, if they show up again, just hand them a copy, say "good day" and close the door! :)

According to him he'll possibly will have the police detectives come next if i dont file a police report. I assume he's scaring me so they can file an ins claim with a police report #.

I say they delivered it to the wrong address (no sig required) and someone got a nice and unexpected Christmas gift.

You don't know that they delivered it to the wrong address. Maybe someone took it from your door.

What's the big deal about making a statement to the police that you did not receive what you ordered, and when you checked on the status of the order they stated it was delivered, but no one in your house received it?

The delivery company either believes you received it and are not telling the truth or they believe someone took it from your step. Sounds like theft in both situations.

Personally, I can see where the OP is coming from. The pkg carrier should report the theft to the police. (IMO)

Yes, ZIG, I can see that point of view as well.

It sounds as if the carrier may file a report, and a police officer could come out and take a statement from OP.

However, the OP should realize that an item that the carrier believes that he/she delivered to the correct address and now is being reported as not delivered or stolen that it will be investigated (especially a package that has such a high value.)

In this case, why is the OP saying it was delivered to the wrong address and that someone got an unexpected Christmas gift?

Oddly enough I had something similar happen to me also, it was with that well known exercise equipment that's so commonly advertised on TV, I had talked to them about ordering one of their systems and decided not to at the end of the conversation, and told them so. While out of town my neighbor phoned and told me she'd accepted a box for me via UPS from that exercise equipment company.

I phoned this company and told them I was out of town, that I had never ordered, had only called to inquire about possibly ordering and their agent obviously put the order through anyway without my consent. They suggested I get the delivery company to come pick it up and return it, so I phoned the neighbor back and told her I'd contacted the delivery company and they would be coming back that day to pick it up, and I also asked her never to accept any packages for me again, that I would take care of picking them up whenever I returned home.

Weeks later I got a nasty call from the finance company stating my first payment had not arrived. I explained to them I never ordered the item and it had been returned. Well guess what, they claimed they never got it back. I told them it'd never been in my hands, that my neighbor had signed for it and the shipping company had picked it back up from her. As you might expect the shipping company claimed they didn't come out to pick it up, so I'm being told I'm responsible to pay for something I never ordered or never even received, and I was being threated with my credit being ruined and so on...

We went back and forth over this for months and it was really getting old, finally I wrote to the Attorney General's Office in my state and they took action. They contacted the shipping company who mysteriously came up with my lost package in their lost and found warehouse, or at least they claimed so, who knows, it could have been some other unlucky persons package and they just stuck my name on it to get the Attorney General's Office off their back.

Never the less what I'm trying to get at is that maybe you should try writing to your Attorney General's Office in your state, you can usually file a complaint online with them, I've used them twice in the last five years and they've reacted very positively and helped me very much both times. The last time was just a few months ago when we found out some 3rd party company had attached a $15 a month debit to our phone bill, we'd paid like 40 months not even knowing it was there because the phone bill made it look like a calling plan. Anyway once the Attorney General's Office looked into it that company wasted no time in refunding me my $610.00 they'd somehow managed to debit by attachment to my phone bill.

Good luck,
SnowCajun
