Planning to miss the trial

i was served a dui charge in colorado april13, 01. i will be in alaska on the court date. i need my license to do my job. my license was issued in the state of florida. i was also charged with speeding on this night. can i miss the court date? what will be the implications if i clear this up in oct. 01? does it help or hurt me to have a license issued in the state of florida?

If you do not show up in court there will be a bench warrant issued for your arrest. So when the authorities locate you, you will not need a license because you will be in jail.

Won't be in state

i won't be in this state until oct. will being arrested till then be a possibility? can they serve a bench warrent from alaska to colorado? i doubt it.

When the doubting Thomas reared it's ugly head.
I'll drink a few, will I get busted for dui? I doubt it.
Then wham, look behind you at the flashing lights and hear the sirens.

Got some advice

i talked to local lawyer who advised me not to worry about the bench warrent they will drop the failure to appear charge when i turn myself in. if you think this is incorrect please advise further. your condecending messages are so helpful

Why don't you just,

A. Hire an attorney to appear on your behalf at your arraignment.

B. Look on the back of your DUI paperwork and apply for a hardship license.


To me this would be a common sense approach to not going to jail over such foolishness.
