What is the name of your state? Alaska

Please someone answer I am really stressed out over this.
I have a lawyer but I think I'm getting bad advice and need to know if I should get a different lawyer.

I have an "Initial Status Hearing" coming up for my case and my lawyer said she doesn't want me to attend it. Is this common? Do I need to be at the hearings? I had a friend tell me that his ex didn't show up for there hearing and the judge was furious. Can my lawyer go in my place?

Technically that is one of the things a lawyer is for to speak on your behalf and represent you at a hearing. But it's my opinon that if you can make it GO, I think it shows a lack of importance to the issue when parents only send their lawyer (of course that is assumong that the Court is in your area it is totally different in my opinion when you are talking about a parent being in another state).
