Just within the past couple of months there has been a million, billion, zillion threads here of teens asking what they have to do to move out and be "adults". So instead of everyone having to repeat themselves for the zillionth time, do a search of the juvenile law section and you'll find loads of answers from earlier threads on the exact same subject.

How long you've been dating has nothing to do with it. Do a search on google for age of consent in florida, and you'll get the answer.

If your parents don't go for it, they can cause him lots of trouble no matter how long you've been dating.

That's not what I said. But until you're 18, your parents are the boss of you - like it or not. They can forbid you to see him, talk to him, etc - and if he goes against their wishes, they can get a restraining order against him.

To be DATING, yes. The law does not say what ages you have to be before you can DATE.

The law specifies what ages you have to be before you can have sex. You are free to have a non-sexual relationship with anyone you want, AS LONG AS YOUR PARENTS AGREE.

For the record, if you have to ask whether or not it is legal, then it is a BAD idea regardless of whether the answer is yes or no.

This thread confuses me. I don't think you could have a problem at all unless... as stated your parents have a problem with it or your not having sex in front of the police station :D. I'm sure the police arent going to get an investigation started if they hear anything about it (hell it could be possible lol) either so chillax and enjoy your relationship. Take care, be safe, wear a condom.

Actually, Akuma, if they hear of a sexual relationship between an adult and a minor that is in violation of the law, chances are good that they WILL investigate.

Granted this may vary by jurisdiction, but it is not uncommon for us to find out about these relationships while investigating unrelated events. And when we DO find out, we are compelled to look in to it. And in CA some counties have people employed to do nothing but look in to these crimes. If the age of consent in FL is actually 16, then chances are they won't look in to it unless there are some other circumstances. But, it is not necessarily true that they will not look in to it if they only hear about it ... we do.

- That would have suprised me but theres not much you can't expect in CA. Maybe it's because I live in Utah that this situation isn't as big a deal. *Thinks of times I've read about polygamist charges in utah*
