I just signed my lease on 08/10/2005, I moved in that weekend which was 08/13/2005. My lease agent advised me that she would have the place fumigated and all appliances working when I moved in. Well it was not, I had roaches in the fridge it was not working, roaches all in the kitchen, bedrooms, bathrooms every where. I had a big hole in the bathroom wall, closet doors off the hinges, it just was not ready for me to move into. I notified her of the problems on that same day 08/13, she said she would call the maint man and have it fixed. Well needles to say nothing was fixed until Monday, I had to throw out my food and my son's milk. I went into work late on monday 08/15 and went up to the office and explained to her nothing was done as per our conversation saturday, she said she could not get in touch with the maint man. I asked why did she let me move into an apartment that was not ready, no comment. She said that as far as the roaches all she could do is put me on a waiting list for the bug man which would have been 08/18. I am terrified of these things and had I known that the place was infested with them I never would have moved in. 08/15 came home and the only thing that was fixed was the refridgerator and the hole in the wall. I called on 08/16 and asked for the other items to be fixed and she stated she was writing up the ticket. 08/17 came home nothing done, same for the 08/18. I called 08/19 and she has an attitude with me because I keep asking them to fix the unfinished apartment they let me move into. later on that afternoon I called back and asked how much it will be for me to get out of my lease and with an attitude she sated you cant you have to stay there for the 6 months. Now I know that there is a certain amount that I can pay to get out, how can I get that information. I have called the health department about the infestation and someone is supposed to come out. Please help with any advise or info you can. Thanks
 


Refer to your lease. What does it state regarding maintenance and pest control? They're obviously acting creepy, but find out what specific lease clauses they are violating. Site this in writing.

Put evrything in writing that you just said on here. State all of the times/dates/contacts/etc. Send them a letter CRRR, and save copies of everything. Stop having phone conversations with them. It's not working. Send everything IN WRITING by the USPS, CRRR.

You might also see if there's a local tenant's rights group that can help you out any.

As far as getting out of your lease.........if they are breaking the lease by any of the things they are doing/not doing I would think you could go to court and get a judgement of some kind.
