What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Illinois
My kids are 11, 9, 6 and 4 and the past several months the older kids in the neigborhood 12, 14 and 16 have been harrasing them and taughting them to fight. Somedays they all get along and other days they do not. This past weekend the next door neighbor's kids came over to my door and asked if the kids could come out and play soccer at the park with them at first I was hesitant and didn't want to do it because every time they are out of my face something happens. Anyway I allowed my kids to take their soccer ball out and play with the other kids and what do you know, the 14 year old girl came over to the park by her ownself and asked my kids if she could be goalie they said no. You have been mean to us all week. The young lady got upset and angry and said that she will not move out of the way of their game then. So my 9 year old son said fine and kicked the ball and it hit her she got angry and threw her cell phone at my 9 year old son. She then picked up the soccer ball and threw it to the 16 year old boy from around the block so my 6 year old son got angry and was trying to take the ball from them and then the 14 year old girl pushed down my six year old son to the ground and he started crying. By this time my 11 year old son was riding his bike through the park and saw what was happening and he jumped off of his bike and hit the 14 year old girl in the face(yeah I know) then the 12 year old neighbor's son saw my 11 year old son hit his "girlfriend" (way too young for that) and he attacked my son my son has a big bump on his head anyway the fight was over shortly after that so my kids started to come towards the house to tell what just happened but the kids that they had been fighting with were following them taughting them the whole way home and calling my "crackhead" and saying why don't you guys just move off our block. So my 9 year old picked up a stick and turned around and hit the girl again. By the way 2 of my 4 childern have been diagonoised with ADHD and one with that as well as mood disorder. So the kids just were hanging outside of my home right in my drive way taughting my kids further so my son ran in the kitchen and grabbed a knife and ran out of the house chasing them away. My boyfriend caught him and brought him in the house and the neighbor had his cell phone and took a picture of my son with the knife and he was arrested. I know this is so long and to just sum this up some my question is this how come all parties were not arrested because if two people are fighting in a public place the are causing harm to each other. Can I sue the sherrifs department for negligence.

You can't sue anyone. You need to get control of your kids.

Running around chasing people with a knife is a lot more serious offense than the rest of the stuff.

Even at the part, the other kids were taunting and taking the ball and your kids started throwing punches and hitting people with sticks. From your telling of the story (which is presumably, if anything, more favorable to your kids), the police did exactly the same thing.

Get your kids some help before they kill someone.

And you most certainly can't sue the Sheriff's department for doing their job.

Ya know what, sweetheart? Your kids are as out of control as anyone. Time to get a handle on them before they get into more trouble.

No, you can't sue anyone.

Let me make sure I understand this...

Your kid first made physical contact by hitting someone with a soccer ball.

Then, another kid jumped in and threw a punch.

Then, the kid picked up a stick and hit someone.

Then, the kid picked up a KNIFE and ran after people.

Jeez...I don't know WHY your thugs are in prison... but I am glad they are.

How did the charges against your little angels go back in July?

I have to tell you... if anything... you will get your wish. The state is going to assume control of your children that have been terrorizing the neighborhood for 3 years.

The first point you made was that the other kids are a bad influence on yours; however, you went ahead and allowed the groups to "play."

You're a negligent mother, and CPS needs to step in before someone is killed.
