my ex husband has temporary custody. Does the court have to notify me that i have to be there if they are going back for any changes? Changes like trying to finalize so that he has total custody?

Yes , most definately the court has to notify you of any changes to the current order. You should receive notice because you would have to appear in court to agree to them.
