What is the name of your state? NY

Last week someone called our house and my husband answered the phone. He is from germany and not used to the things that people call about in the US.
He was asked by the NY firemans association if they could send a pledge card and he said ok.
Today it arrived here and is in my name (i assume they had my name/ adress from wherever they find personal information).

Do i have to pay this ? What if i don't send it back ? Is there any kind of binding contract/ obligation done over the phone for these donation "deals" ?

No, you don't have to pay, assuming, of course, all hubby did was say "OK" to "Can we send a card?"

But expect a lot more junk mail in the future :D

Thank you for your reply.

I tried to ask him what exactly they/ he said - they offered him several pledge cards (gold, silver etc) for certain ammounts. What he told them was that if anything we would only do the least expensive - does this change things ?

He is really mad that he even has to worry about stuff like that. Where he is from people can't call you and heckle you for stuff like that.
