confused: What is the name of your state? This is happening in Tenn.

About 6 yrs ago I located my bio-dad. He's been living in and out of Veteran's Administrative hospitals around the country. He owes my mother close to $60 thousand in back child support, and hasn't worked in a legit job in 20 yrs, that's why the States couldn't locate him, but that's a whole different story.. Anyways, about 2 yrs ago my brother and his girlfriend met up with our dad, for the first time in 18 yrs. The bio-dad talked my brother and girlfriend into moving to Tenn. Then the bio-dad talked my brother into letting him move in with brother and his girlfriend and her little girl. It worked out for about another 2 yrs then my brother packed his bags and left. (brother had problems with the girlfriend anyways.)
Now brother is telling me that rumor has it that bio-dad and brother's old girlfriend are talking marriage just so the woman and her 8 yr old daughter can be entitled to bio-dad's VA benefits. I'm assuming insurance and what-not.
My question is... Can her and the baby be able to use his benefits,... is that possible? That the woman could marry this old man (he's 62 and the woman is 23 with a 8 yr old child) and be able to use his insurance, ect...
I'm just curious on this matter, it really doesn't matter to me one way or another. But, I've never heard of such a thing...
Thanks in advance.....

P.S. I'm sorry if this is the wrong room for this question, and if so could someone point me in the right direction- cause my curiosity is killing me..
Thanks.... ;)

My dad has something similar going on. He's recently been declared Disabled by the VA due to a Service Connected Disability. The only person who gets medical benefits is him. If he marries his live in girlfriend she won't recieve anything, as it's NOT like Tricare and doesn't cover spouses. Those type of benefits are reserved for Retirees.

There ARE education benefits available for children of 100% disabled Veterans, but... you can't marry into those.
