What is the name of your state? CA
I live in an apartment complex. The structure is very old.
I have seen quite a few issues in the past 3 years.
This morning I noticed that the sewege water filled the entire bath tub (abt 1.5 ft high). Looks like the (common) drainage clogged with something and the sewege water filled up messing up my bath room. I don't think anyone else in the apartment complex is affected.
When I called the property manager she said she would send someone to fix the plumbing problem but refused to clean the bath tub. She is advising me to use my renters insurance to claim the cleaning charges. Unfortunately I do not have renters insurance.
Please let me know if I have any right to ask them to pay for it.
thanks in advance for your great help.

Renters Ins is for when your personal property becomes damaged because of water , fire etc . unfortunately the amount of time it will take to fight with them over this might be bigger hassle . Take a picture of the mess so you have proof of the incident for your records .

**A: clean the bathtub yourself and stop wasting out time with such trivial nonsense. By the way, do you have renter's insurance now?
