Kentucky,
I am currently active duty army. Back in 2003 I was deployed to Iraq. Berfore going I had a gf and she had became pregnant with a child that is supposedly mine. I had no family to turn to so I made her my POA while I was at war since we were living together and she was the mother of my child for all I know. Well here goes the problem... Not even a month after I went to Iraq she gave up my house I had rented and all other extra bills that were not on allotments. Only thing that was being taken out for me with my money was a storage shed which adds up to around $600 for the 10 months I was gone. She was even supposed to keep up my car insurance but she dropped that and soon after wrecked my car that I am still paying over $12,000 for and she did not even change information with the other person involved! I soon found out that she had left me returning to her ex and had the baby while there. I was returned early due to a great piece of metal they call a purple heart and $0 in my bank account. I know I am also at fault for trusting this woman but is there anything I can do? She drained my account of $14,889.28 while she was living with her husband and living in government housing claiming no income from either man. Now I am in the process of getting child support started after paternity is established but is there ANYTHING I can do about this??? Any suggestions? ANYONE?

First, thank you very much for defending the freedoms with which I enjoy as an American.

You need to see an Estate/Elder Law/Civil Trial attorney regarding fiduciary abuse of a POA immediately.

Did you have any type of discussion with her about what your intentions were for her to use any monies she took out? Did you tell her just to use it to pay certain bills? I agree she took advantage of you but it's going to be somewhat difficult to prove your case in court.

This I realise is probably going to be a waste of my time I am just making sure that there is nothing I can do about the situation at hand. When being deployed you don't have time for anything! This woman and I had been living together for around a year at this point. Once I got the orders to be deployed I made sure that all the allotments for child support, loans, and so forth were active so I knew this would automatically be taken care of. Since this woman and I had been together and had recently became pregnant I made her my POA and joined her onto my account. She was to take the money and pay things such as: rent, utilities, car insurance, car payment, and make payments on my washer/dryer I had purchased in a rent center. I also stated that once all the bills were paid to assure that we had things needed for after the birth of the baby. This was all done in asuming that she would stay there and keep up the home we had rented so I would have a place once returning to the states and also have a gf waiting at home. Little did I know that not even one month of being deployed she had ran out on me for her husband(Which I was lead to believe they were divorced) and still was using the money from my account to pay for their bills. Hell he was even driving my car! I have also recently found out that the date of conception of this baby she had been having sex with at least two other men. So now I am looking at this baby not even being mine. Once I returned I found that she had gave up our house, returned all the things I was in the process of buying ,such as the washer/dryer,and that most of my belongings were taken. Am I guilty for being a dumbass for trusting a woman that I loved and leaving her over my money because she was pregnant with our* child?

So because I was going off to fight a war and had no one to pay my bills except her I am fully at fault? I understand that I left her but for her to take it ALL and not even leave me a dime or a place to live is crazy. Maybe I am just looking at the moral side of things. What discust me is that after all the money that she took from me I am now(if found to be for FACT the father) I will be responsable for even more thousands of dollars to this woman. By the way, did I not HAVE to add her to my account as part of making her my POA to pay the bills? Any advice or thoughts on this? Say what you like... Rather you talk **** than to leave me penniless for the money I made while getting shot at and being in an explosion.
