can you believe that neither the police officers nor the witness showed to my court date? but my lawyer asked for a continuance :( and after further digging, the address of the incident in the police report does not exist AND the address for the witness is not real.

i don't know what to make of it.

i was told that the case could have been dismissed since the witness did not show because the witness if the cruxed of the case, is this true?

You, or your attorney actually, could have requested a dismissal. Whether it would have been granted or not would be up to the court.

I suspect you have a public defender. Regardless, he does not seem to be on your side. As already pointed out he should have asked for a dismissal. It may have not been granted the first time, but you would have a much better chance if they did not show up again. I would sit down with my lawyer and ask him to describe exactly what his strategy is. Also ask him to describe in detail how his actions are going to benefit you in this case. goodluck.
