Yesterday when my husband went to visit a friend, the wife said that the night before
their house was search and the friend was arrested for possession of drugs.
Shortly after leaving their house, my husband was pulled over and was searched.
Today we noticed police driving by our house several times and where ever my husband went he noticed he was being followed.
My husband said that he wouldn't be surprised
if the police show up at our house sometime soon to search our house too.
We have nothing to afraid of, except some messy closets. But I don't like the idea of being woke up in the middle of the night, having my children frighted while stranges go through our personal things.
Also we live in a very small town, many people listen to scanners for entertainment. I am from a well respected family and have a job dealing with the public. I find this situation very embrassing and uncalled for. and wonder if this could be considered
police harrassment, if so what are my rights?

My response:

Dear Kismi - -

Your husband is blowing your cover !!

You said, "my husband went to visit a friend, . . . [whose] house was searched and the friend was arrested for possession of drugs."

Then you continue by saying, "I am from a well respected family . . . "

I thought that was kinda humorous, because it doesn't matter. Remember Patty Hearst? She too was from a "well-respected family," and look what happened to her.

Anyway, it is apparent that the police don't think of you, or know you and your family history, like you do.

The cops can "tail" anyone they want, for however long they want, during an investigation. If your husband is clean, then they can't ever get sufficient "probable cause" to obtain a signed search warrant.

Make sure your husband stays clean, and stays away from known drug users.

How strange for the police to make their presence known. I'm sure your husband has a cell phone? Most persons get railroaded in these kind of stings. Get the telephone no. of a trusted lawyer, and call the lawyer when pulled over.
