What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Florida
When I was 17, I was arrested for felony possession of marijuana, and the next morning when I attended school a police officer (or some type of city employee) had given the entire police report (releasing my name as well) to the principal at my private high school. Upon my school receiving this report I was expelled from the private high school. Is this legal? As a minor I always thought that arrest reports and specifically NAMES were not allowed to be released or published to anyone, let alone given a complete copy of the police report in person. Can anyone please give me any type of advice or opinions on what is legal and illegal in this situation. It would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advanced. -Chris

In FL can you be tried as an adult for any Felony?? If so, you were not a minor then.

In FL I believe you can be tried as an adult for felonies (any felony, I am unsure), I was not tried as an adult nor was I ever convicted. My case got expunged, but I was expelled/released from school 2 days after the incident before any type of trial. And why do I always hear that when you are a minor your records are kept sealed? or something of that nature.

Thanks, for the help

I don't know why you always hear that minor's records are always sealed because they aren't.

I understand that you want someone to tell you that yes, as a minor, no one has any right to give up any information about you - that your name cannot be released and that it is illegal for anyone to do so. Unfortunately for you, what you want us to tell you is not the correct legal answer.

As I already told you in one of your multiple other threads, as a courtesy the names of minors are SOMETIMES withheld but it is a courtesy and nothing more. Police records are public record. There is NO legal requirement that the names of minors be withheld. None. Zip. Nada.

Are we quite clear on this point now?
