I am so angry i don't even know where to begin. I was terminated from my job after almost 2 years of employment.In the time i was there, i was never written up, had impeccable attendance,and literally work my butt off for this woman. All my reviews were awesome, i used to take work back and forth from our 2 offices during tax season and never once asked her to pay me for that time. Thats not the real issue but it will become one now.This story could go on forever so I will just get to the point at hand then tell the rest some other time.On June 6th i was called into her office with her and her employee. I was told at that time that i was going to be losing a point, and she was cutting my hours back to 20 hours a week, because a phone message that didnt get logged into the computer. This is after she had already cut my hours back after tax season because she said she couldnt afford us fulltime anymore only her other employee who was hired after us was getting fulltime.Anyway the bottom line is when i came back in on the following Monday she had me work all day them when i left she had her employee call me and termintae me something she had all dayy to do. She had not a week before that told me in writting that i could take my vacation. Now she said her Policy book states that if terminated i dont get that,. Well her book also states that if you are down to 0 points your are atomatically terminated. Well i have in my hands proof that another employee was down to 0 points and she was slapped on the wrist and just had her hours cut. She should have been terminated. My point is she uses her book when it suits her, she made the working enviroment totally unbearble the last few months.Do i have a legal challenge to her BOOK?I feel totally discrimated against, what she has done is taken my livelyhood away from me and also told someone she will make sure i can't collect unemployment. Plus now finding a job will be hard because of her actions. I had major knee surgery in February and took one day off work and went back in pain on crutches because i didnt want to leave her short handed. I feel betrayed, hurt, angry and totally used for my hard work and loyalty to her. I dont know what to do, who can afford a lawyer when your unemployed, so any advice would be so appreciated.. Thank you

the policy book is worthless. She can fire you whenever and however she wishes within the law. And since you work in an at-will state (as most are) you have no recourse.

Okay. Still nothing illegal. Her approving your requested vacation does NOT commit to payment if you are no longer working there.

Not relevant. An employer can make exceptions or allowances that you may not understand or agree with.

What was discriminatory?? Are you somehow a 'protected class' (as set by Title VII)??

No she hasn't!!! You are perfectly free to go out and find other employment!!

Of course, that decision is not up to her. File for unemployment and let the process work.

I dont know what to do, who can afford a lawyer when your unemployed, so any advice would be so appreciated.
Best advice: Get off your ass and quit trying to blame others. Learn to be accountable for YOUR actions. Learn that life is not fair, nor does anyone owe you a living. Get a job.
