If a,say, 14 year-old boy is a victim of RAPE (yes,it happens) and a child is conceived as a result, is he responsible for "child support"? If the other party, the female, is under age also, is she charged with the rape?

Sounds like a double standard to me. What's good for the goose should be good for the gander! Or vice versa.

Ahem. Why are you all assuming that the girl will automatically have custody? Your comments seem to be based on a double standard too. :D Heck, if I were the boy's parents, I wouldn't want my grandchild raised by a rapist. If I were the judge, I'd be unlikely to award custody to the rapist. That said,...

::Putting on Solomon hat::

Well, when men commit rape, they have to support a resulting child. I'd either award custody to the boy and make the mother pay support, or assess child support against the boy once he has an income, but award the boy the same amount or more as damages for the girl's rape & battery. Net result: girl pays boy more than he pays her. Of course, I'd have to twist the support laws like a pretzel to do it, since family court is separate from civil court.

Regarding charging: A statutory rape conviction will depend on the reletive ages of the parties at the time of the rape. A rape conviction will depend on the girl's use of force/intimidation.

I love playing devil's advocate! :)

OK. If BOTH kids are underage, then I would think that the PARENTS of BOTH children should have to decide what to do about the baby. Would either set of parents be willing to raise the baby? No matter what either the boy or the girl should be responsible somewhat financially for the child until they mature and then they should pay support like everyone else. I would think that the girl should be charged with rape since if it was the other way around, you KNOW the boy would be charged with it.

Oohh, this is tough!

There are choices that both sets of parents would have to make like putting the child up for adoption, abortion, (which I really don't like) or keeping the baby. It's sad to say, but I know there are very young children out there having sex and it's scary to think that situations like this actually happen!

Should the parents of the child NCP have to pay support for the son or daughter who conceived the baby? Part of me says no and part of me says yes.

16952-Thanks for asking how things are. The usual. No comments from his daughter, and we are expecting another wonderful report card soon. How can a mother allow her child to be late to school 16 times in one year? My husband has tried everything he can think of to communicate with his daughter, nothing works. I think he has just given up. What's your story? Do you still pay support? Fill me in!
