Recently I was terminated from my job of 12 yrs for too much personal time off... The culinary Union in witch I have paid dues to for the last 12 yrs was to represent me in assisting to get my job back. I filed my claim7/6/09, three weeks later I had received one call from them reviewing my case and was told that they will get back to me but possibly not before the 8/10/09. Then on 8/8 I received a call from my "representative" and Harrah's (my employer) asking me where I was and why didn't I show up to my grievance? I was put on speaker phone, me on one end while on the other end was 2 managers from my department, HR rep, and the Union rep. And I wasn't feeling like The union was on my side. I felt ganged up on not to mention upset for not being notified about a grievance date and where to be. I did not get to say much during that short conference call I was too busy being put in the corner like I was a child. The last thing said was the HR rep saying, “we don’t have any more time for this. Linda (the Union rep) will have to call you back later today”. That call never came, I called leaving messages every day for over a week, and still nothing.
I felt that I was terminated in a wrong and sneaky way. And the Union seemed to not care or well do there job and push for an investigation much less communicate with some one their supposed to be representing.
Is there further action that can be taken towards the Union and or my previous Employer?
