I was recently with one of my friends (both of us 17) and we were sitting in the tailgate of my car talking amongst ourselves and all of a sudden two sheriffs pull up. Apparently someone had said they heard loud yelling and glass breaking coming from where we were at. This wasn't happening but thats besides the point. My friend had beer in a cooler and I stupidly let him put it in my car. Neither of us had anything to drink (I choose not to drink, and have no desire to) and we told the sheriffs when they asked if we had anything in the vehicle. As I said we had nothing to drink and the beer was confiscated by the sheriffs. They called our parents and wrote an "incident report". One sheriff told me that there were no criminal charges filed and that the report just stated that it was my friend and myself with the alcohol, we had nothing to drink, and we were underage. They took my license and took the # and parents names and #'s. Is anything else going to happen? I have never been in trouble with the law before and this really made me feel like crap. Please give me advice!

I understand that we were in "possession" of alcohol, and I will regret the entire evening for the rest of my life, but even the fact that one of the sheriffs told me that they weren't charging us with anything?
If you're never charged, then nothing will happen.
