I live in Virginia. Okay, I'll try to make it as short as possible. My husbands ex-wife could possibly be a bigamist. If we find out and get proof that she was still legally married to her first husband when she married my husband then what would that do to our marriage? Anything? They were legally divorced when we got married, but if she was a bigamist and we don't find out until now then will it have an effect on our marriage? Also, they had 2 children in their marriage, and my husband has paid alimony to his ex and went through about $5,000.00+ for attorneys fees trying to divorce her and getting custody and other marital issues settled with her. If she is a bigamist then can my husband still have their marriage annuled? And how would it work over their divorce and the alimony he paid? If my husband decided to file charges against her for bigamy then what COULD happen to her? We are in the process of trying to get her divorce papers from her first marriage(if there are any), we mainly think she did divorce the first husband, but it wasn't final before they got married. Also, after her and my husbands divorce she has married the third time, would that make her a bigamist twice? Would her third husband be able to get their marriage annuled or would it happen automatically when we brought the issue up? Thanks everyone in advance.
