hi!
Just recently, many N.Y. loft dwellers have been evicted due to either living in comercial loft illegally, or fire hazzards within the building. In fact these people were given 2 days to vacate. 12/19/00 an article appeared in thr N.Y. daily news with my adress listed as a possible fire hazzard building. what can i do and what are my rights? I was actually told by a representative of the landlord that living in the space was legal.

Contact the reporter for the paper and ask for the source. Then contact the source to get the information firsthand. The source may be the Building Department, Fire Department etc.
