What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? South Carolina: We bought a used king-sized bed several months ago. There were no receipts in the transaction. We paid the agreed price. Now, the sellers want the bed back and are threatening small claims court action. The sellers hold the original paperwork and are saying we stoled the bed. We paid over $400 for this bed which was located in the seller's sisters house. The sister allowed us in to remove said bed. She was aware of the transaction and also a witness. What are our rights in keeping this bed without having a receipt? If receipts are mandatory for all home purchases such as yard sales, this could open a bucket of worms for those dishonest.
