What is the name of your state? New York

I am writing on behalf of a very good friend of mine who's not too net/law savvy. Several years back, she posed willingly for personal photos for her boyfriend. She has since lost contact with him, but recently she found these pictures on a Yahoo Group.

The kicker is that although the pictures are of her, none of her actual data was published - the name, age, measurements, and stories about sxual experiences appeared totally made up. It seems that in this age of net use, this is happening allllll the time

QUESTIONS:
1. Does she have any recourse? We contacted Yahoo groups and they took down the offensive pics.
2. Is it worth subpoena of yahoo for the IP address and then the ISP for the person's data? What would this cost and is it worth it?
3. Is a civil suit worth it or is taking down the pictures enough?

**A: post the link so we can view the photos and then advise you accordingly.

What's the point of posting the link so more people can see it? Is the description not enough? besides the pics have already been removed

**A: Look, how are we to give you legal advice without confirming if the pictures were really offensive or not? You really have a lot to learn about the legal system.

I just didn't want to propogate the issue by posting the pics. the problem is that they've been taken down already, so we can't show them. Basically, the pics were of her either tastefully undressed, or in the middle of performing acts on her bf.

**A: are you saying that some of the photos were porn?

Yes, she posed for them for her boyfriend at the time. All pictures had her undressed, some were explicit, but standard hardcre stuff.

So what's the big deal?

One man's porn is another man's art.

Isn't it defamation of character? Its her picture, and even though the name is not hers, the "data" that was offered paints her as "easy"

This has GOT to be the dummest response of the day. The girl posed nude and doing 'the nasty' with her boyfriend ON FILM and you worry about it portraying her as "Easy"?

NEWS FLASH!!! She IS easy

**A: well if her bf was not well endowed, then for her, it would have been easy.

I think "one man's porn is another man's art" as posted by BelizeBreeze is not the issue at hand here. The point is she did not give express permission for the pictures to be posted. I don't think that yahoo has any liability in this matter (I could be wrong) but your friend would be well within her rights to sue the ex.

And what you "THINK" is irrelevant. And wrong.

Hmmmm, not wrong! I sued my ex over photos that weren't even very revealing showed to some friends and I won. *wink*

Belize...why be so nasty?

You know, I'm wondering why you picked up on my response to this and didn't bother to reply to my actual posting of a question. I was really hoping someone would respond to that.
