What is the name of your state? TX

If I run a website with a large forum/messgae board on it, what kind of legal ramifications can be brought on me if one of my users posts an image that is copyrighted by someone else?

Thanks in advance for your help.

A: The copyright holder could sue you in federal court.

Could protect yourself like imageshack.us

http://reg.imageshack.us/content.php?page=rules

I have seen numerious images that are copyrighted hosted on that site. They will remove any image that is complained against and you could do the same.

I have not seen a image removed on any of the boards i post on or moderate (but that doesnt make it legal).

Those "rules" are nice, but won't protect you if someone really wants to sue you for copyright infringement.

Thank you for clarifying, I wanted to refrence the OP to a public site that has alot of attention yet no lawsuits that I have heard of about image hosting.

If the file is not hosted on the form server and only linked using html or vb code is that legal?
