I live in Missouri. I have a question that no one can answer. My ex (yes it is true) ran my credit cards up and skipped town. I was told the only way to get them off my credit was to pay them or sue her. Couldn’t sue her (she was my kids mom). Couldn’t pay em so credit was shot. This was in 1993 at the latest. Credit was shot. Married wonderful lady who helped me clean up my credit. I have had perfect credit now for several years. Now Berks C&C has put a collection on my credit reports. Said that First Chicago is the original debtor. Berks refuses to give me any information and just told me to send them a check. First Chicago has never heard of me. My question is can they just put something on my credit reports after all of these years and without validation?
