I recently posted on a public professional forum as a registered member. My post was in response to a thread originated by another member. My opinion, albeit not the popular opinion, was presented in a professional and courteous manner and in line with all forum rules regarding posting. One of the forum moderators, who I find out later is friends with the original member who initiated the thread, took issue with my opinions and comments. Since I was logged in under a user name other than my own, this moderator chose to us my IP address to look up my name and place of work. He then went on to google my name for professional organizations I am associate with. He posted this private information as part of the thread. I immediately requested that my private information be taken down from the post, and after about 10 hours they complied. Do I have any rights legally to pursue this matter? I have a copy of the original thread and all posts. Thanks for your response. What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)?
