Here's the scenario:

John goes to a dressage horseshow and takes pictures of people riding their horses. John posts these photos on his personal website. Then John goes to the most popular internet dressage bulletin board (with thousands of registered users) and creates a new thread with a link to his site. Users discuss the photos and some opinions of the riders/trainers/horses are very negative.

WHAT CAUSES OF ACTION, IF ANY, DO THE RIDERS/TRAINERS FOUND IN JOHN'S PHOTOS HAVE? CAN THEY DEMAND TO HAVE THEIR PHOTOS REMOVED FROM JOHN'S WEBSITE?

Can they claim any sort of right of publicity? John is not making any money on his website. The bulletin board contains advertising.

Is there any other right to ones "likeness"? Can John post his photos of riders/horses without permission from riders and horse owners?

What about defamation? Can users who post negative comments on the bulletin board be liable in any way?

Anything else?
