What is the name of your state? Georgia

My father recently fell and bruised his spinal cord and has had neck surgery. At the current time, he is unable to use his hands. He is needing to sign the Advance Directive and Durable Power of Attorney for Health Care and a Financial Power of Attorney. However, since he can't really write his name, what do we need to do?

Please advise.

Thank You Very Much,
Cindy

A: This question comes up frequently. If it were me and pa could make an X, then there is a way for two witnesses and a notary to indicate he signed "his mark". If he cannot even make a mark, then there may be ways (if he can otherwise communicate and is not incompetent), that someone can sign for him.

The two disinterested witnesses and the notary, of course, are just in case anyone contests this POA.

Also, remember that no one is obliged to take a POA.
