What is the name of your state? Kansas

If I change insurance companies, can they deny me or my dependents coverage due to pre-existing conditions?

Actually, that depends.

If you go from employer sponsored group coverage to employer sponsored group coverage, and there is no gap between when the old plan ends and the new plan starts (a gap is defined as 62 days or more) then no, there can be no denial of any condition on the basis of pre-ex.

If either of the insurance plans is an individual plan instead of an employer sponsored group plan, or if there has been a gap in coverage, then all bets are off.
