We recieved a letter from our home owners association ... the postmark on the letter was 3 days after the date of the letter ... the letter was recieved 4 days after the postmark ... all other mail communications have been recieved in 1 day. The letter cited a violation and gave us 10 days to correct the violation but becayse of the delays in the letter arriving at our home, we had only 3 days. Is it legal to predate a letter and then not mail it in a timely fashion?

Sure it's legal.
Save the envelope.
However, if you are TRULY in the process of "fixing" whatever it is you've done wrong, then I bet you won't have a problem ;)
