My wife and I have a very bad relationship. It has been appartent she has had a relationship outside of our marriage. She has an appointment with a OB/GYN that is not her normal Dr.for female issues. I found out about this appoinment by accident, she has kept it a secret. I sneekly called the Dr. to confirm her visit and confirm Phone# and Address. The phone# was her work w/ no home phone. The address is a P.O. Box I did not know existed. I had a vasectomy so I can not get her pregnant. I also have good reason to believe she has not had her period. I do not believe that we will be together much longer.
My question is how can I find out about the result of that visit legaly? Is the Dr. under an obligation to tell the husband of his wife's pregnancy? What information can I find out and how? This is in the state of Ohio.
Thanks in advance.

You can not get that information any other way than your wife telling you about it.

My response:

Question : "how can I find out about the result of that visit legaly?"

Answer : You can't.

Question : "Is the Dr. under an obligation to tell the husband of his wife's pregnancy?"

Answer : No.

Question : "What information can I find out and how?"

Answer : None.

Your wife's visits to any doctor are, by law, private - - protected by the "Doctor / Patient Confidentiality Privilege".

Your wife is the holder of that privilege and, unless she tells you, or gives her doctor permission to discuss these matters with you, you'll never know about anything that has transpired between her and her doctor.

Good luck to you.

Have you talked to your wife about this? How many years ago did you have the Vasectomy? If you know where the Office is, why don't you go to the appointment?

My response:

He already knows who the doctor is, so what would going to the appointment do for him ?

All the doctor would have to do is lock him out of the office or examination room - - or, re-set the appointment, or worse, call the police to have him forceably ejected.

Merely a suggestion. Depending on how "determined" he is to find out what his wife is hiding....

why not ask?

it's not fair to assume that she could be pregnant and that it is not yours. she might be having tests run for all sorts of reasons, ovarian cancer just pops into mind.

it maybe something that she is worried about and wanting to find out for sure BEFORE she discusses it with you. to be honest, if it were me and the possibility of ovarian cancer, i would get all the tests and know all the information, treatments, options, everything before i mentioned it to my husband.
