What is the name of your state? KS

Situation: A 16 year old girl was assaulted by her 18 year old boyfriend. (Witnesses present--other kids). 16 yr. old is afraid to press charges due to threats from 18 yr. old. Can the parents of the 16 yr. old file charges against the 18 yr. old without the 16 yr. olds "cooperation"?
Thanks in advance.

The parents can certainly report it to the police. Whether charges can be pursued through the court will depend on the cooperation they receive from the victim and witnesses. Since the parents did not witness the assault (I presume) the police will need SOME statement from the victim or the direct witnesses to the attack.

I am not sure of the status of the law in KS but it is likely this can be considered domestic violence AND, possibly, child abuse - in addition to assault and/or battery ... again, depending on the nature of the law in KS regarding a 16-year-old.
