Wife was prevoiusly married. Her and exhusband bought a house during their marriage. They got divorced but my wife did not have a lawyer and he did. He got the house and they told her that if she signed "quit claim deed", then she wouldn't be legal responsible for the house. The decree states that my wife is not responsible for the house legally or financially, but recently the ex missed a mortgage payment and its showing up on my wifes credit. We are trying to purchase a home but lenders are asking for her ex's lease agreements(the houses are being rented) because her name is still on the mortgage, he is refusing to refinance. Can anything be done about this? Legally?
