My ex-wife is primary custodial parent of our 3 year old son. Within the past two years she has tried to commit suicide twice; the last attempt being December 5, 2004. She also received a DUI on the December 5 because she drove after ingesting a large quantity of pain pills and drinking alcohol. She spent a few days in a drug rehab center admitting to a painpill addiction. On January 24, 2005, her live-in boyfriend allegedly choked and punched her while my three year old was in the house. He fled the scene and a warrant was placed for his arrest. The cops came back on January 31, 2005 to arrest him. She told the cops that he was not home. He was home and he was arrested and she was arrested for lying to the police. I was only recently notified of this information by an outside person; she did not tell me. I am extremely concerned about my son's safety and feel helpless as to what to do. I have tried to find childcare close to me and have him live with me more often but she informed me that he lives with her and she is the primary custodial parent. I don't know what to do and am in fear of my son's safety. Does anyone have any suggestions?

~File for emerg. temporary custody due to the DV, then hire an attorney and fight for full custody.

If all that you are saying is true.........Get on the phone ASAP and get an attorney for a custody change...I would verify the validity of the statements that you received from your source to be sure this is actually the case... But based on the information provided she is a danger to your child and you need to get that child out of there!
