What is the name of your state? MD
Apologize if this is not the correct forum for this question, but couldn't find an exact fit. I am a co-owner & co-signer on a vehicle loan w/another person. He also signed a promissory note to me for a personal loan. Although our personal relationship has ended, these contracts are on-going. He is still making payments on both for the last 2 1/2 years since split. It is not specified in either contract, but is there any legal guidance on parties with an on-going business relationship to provide each other with up-to-date contact information-i.e. address & phone number. Or is it an expected business courtesy? I usually contact this person if there is a problem (like a reduced or late payment) by email, but he doesn't check his email frequently. When necessary I've called him (only about 8 times in last 2 1/2 years). Last year he moved w/o telling me, but I quickly found out new address. This year, he changed his phone number w/o telling me. I had to email him about a problem w/car contract. When 10 days passed w/no response I called him (found out new phone number through information database). He about had a hissy fit & asked how did a get his non-published number. I explained it was not thru the phone company, I used another legal resource, we have an on-going business relationship & I needed information in regards to that. So is there legal guidance on providing contact information in a business contract? Have any privacy rights been violated? Although I feel I should know where he is & where the car is until loans are paid, I realize feelings are not law. Is there a legal resource for me to check?
