florida is my state.
my book will have photos of active licence tags mounted on autos from various states. is this ok legally, or must i blank out portions of the tag numbers to preserve privacy?

close one. it depends on a number of factors: expectation of privacy vs. being on a public roadway. Talk to (if you want to go the cheap route) a law librarian in your state and see if he/she can track cases on this for you.

Otherwise, call the U.S. Copyright Office and see if their telephone reps can help you.
