We have an executive secretary at our office. She handles the absences of all employees. Employees must fill out a time off slip for either annual leave or sick. If she knows where they are going or what they are doing on their annual leave time she makes a note in their file. She also does this for sick time (i.e., barb, had flu -- sue, went to florida). She also looks at everyone messages in the message tray for all employees. In the morning she walks the whole building to see what time people came in. She looks at the while you were out forms to see who got calls and from whom. We have an internal mailbox for employees. She goes in the box and looks at all their mail. She reads all faxes that come through the fax. The Manager of the company has been told. Nothing seems to be done about it. Is this considered an invastion of one's privacy.
Help -- it is like big brother is looking at you.

It sound tyrannical that's for sure. Though courts generally hold that employees have a lower expectation of privacy. Yet you may still want to speak to an employment law attorney near you. You can find one at attorneypages
