Problem with a dentist: updated
I'm from Ca. I had a root canal and a crown on number 30 tooth done 3 years ago. I have had nothing but problems with it ever since. I kept going back to the dentist trying to get the pain to go away, he stated since I grind my teeth that was the problem. Since I was not getting anywhere with the dentist I requested my records. I received my records and I sat down to read them and found out when he did the root canal he broke a file in the root and put the old crown back on the tooth.
I went to a differnt dentist 125 miles away since I did not trust the previous denist. He did the x-rays and saw that the file was in the root of the tooth and that because the crown did not fit properely that there was decay under the crowned tooth. Told me the only way to get rid of the file is to pull the tooth. I also went to the oral surgeon to make sure of this. The reason for the 3 crown brigde is that a tooth is now gone from the back of the mouth so it needs 2 other teeth to anchor it on to. I contacted the dentist who messed up my mouth and asked them to pay what insurance would not cover,he hung up on me.
I want to send a demand letter asking for the uncovered cost plus the day my husband had to take off of work to take me get the tooth pulled, I was knocked out from medication. I also have the tooth that was pulled and you can see the file sticking out of it. How do I go about writing the demand letter and is the dentist liable for breaking the file in my tooth and all of the damage it caused.
Hope this expained it better, Thank-You
