What is the name of your state? New York
Last week I left a heavy object in the lobby of our building, packed for the UPS to be picked-up. When it disapeared I called the super to find out if he knows anything about it. His wife took it to her apartment and opened it up. When I went with my husband to get it she would not give it to us and said she would call the police if we do not leave her apartment. What should I do to get my property back for the time UPS comes to pick it up?

**A: and what did the police tell you when you called them and reported this theft?

well maybe..

Maybe the heavy object was a body in a duffel bag which is why
the OP was worried the landlord's wife was going to call the police??

The object was packed in a box.
I just told her I would call the police if she does not return my property. She brought it back herself. Thanx HomeGuru for your advice :)
