I live in Lowell Mass. I have a tenent at-will agreement with our landloards. They live above us on the second floor. We have a 5 year old dog who barks when we are not home. I have been trying to solve the problem, whoever, they have told us that we either need to remove the dog or find another place to live. Can they do this and what are my rights for my dog? Are there time limits? They told us the dog must be gone in a week!

YES you have a choice......

ignore your landlord and look for a new Place to live ASAP!

If you do not get rid of the dog, the landlord could start eviction procedings immediately as a nuiscance, becuase they live there too.

So it would be better to work an agreement out with them, that you will help the landlord rerent the apartment for May 1st

And thats pretty much all your options. especially since you have NO LEASE!

Did your landlord know you had the dog before you moved in????

If not then I don't think they really have to give you any time limit...... Sorry to break the news to ya...........
