What is the name of your state? I live in Wisconsin, but this company is in Florida.

I am in need of advice. Since 2001 my husband and I have been using a debt consolidation company to pay off two credit cards. For the past several months we have found out that they have missed two full payments and made several late payments. We have been calling the company to get answers, but we get a run around. We can never get through to the blamed department. We even contacted the Better Business Bureau, and after several weeks the BBC came back to us saying the company would not reply back to any of their communications. Does anyone have advice on a possible next step? We have told the company that we are going to get a lawyer involved, but we do not know if this is something that a lawyer would want to work with. Help! Please!

I also got mixed up with debt counseling places. The first one, which I signed up with a few years ago, has actually done exactly what they said they would do. All bills have been paid on time for the last few years. So, when I needed help again on some different accounts I felt pretty good about these places. Picked a new one, they could give me a slightly better deal than the other one. Biggest mistake of my life. They have to date, taken almost 1500.00 of my money and done absolutely nothing to help out this debt. Turns out the accounts refused to work with them, but the debt place failed to tell me that. In fact, one of the accounts I have with them is in the process of suing me. I had the original contract with the debt place and it states that I can end their services for a fee and money in my account with them will be returned. I sent them a letter CRRR informing them of the termination of their services and demanding the money back. I'll still end up eating almost 900 but I should get the rest back. They have 14 business days to get the money back to me and we are now on day 5. We'll see.

I suggest you read the contract you had with them very carefully and see what it says. Otherwise, talk to a lawyer or contact the AG's office to see if anything can be done. I would suggest you also quit paying them right now. They usually do more harm than good.
