What is the name of your state? OK

Last summer I went to an endodontist for a root canal, he performed root canal on wrong tooth, then another on correct tooth. He billed me for both procedures. I wrote him a letter stating I did not feel, I should be billed for procedure done on wrong tooth. He claims "You would have needed a root canal on that tooth eventually" and "My records will back me up". I have refused to pay balance that my insurance did not pay. He has turned my account to collections, and they are calling me daily, threatening to contact my employer. Is there anything I can do?

And what are they supposedly going to contact your employer for ?? They'd have to sue you first and win to garnish your wages and talking to your employer about your debt is against the law !!

You can make them stop calling by sending them a letter telling them they are to stop calling you and all contact should be my MAIL ONLY. Depending on the amount, they very well could sue you.

Have you taken this up with your insurance company by any chance ??

I have talked to my insurance co. They said it was between the dentist and myself to work out. They told me to call the Dental Association to file a complaint. I am certain he performed a root canal on the wrong tooth. What are my options?

Then I would do just that, take it up with the Dental Assoc. I presume you had x-rays done, get copies of them from the dentist - they are YOUR x-rays. You can consult with another dentist as to what your x-rays say and what your dentist actually did and whether or not he WAS right that the 2nd tooth would or would not have required a root canal.

Time to start writing letters, but you really should try to get a copy of the x-rays. You paid for the x-rays, they're of your mouth, and you ARE entitled to them, so don't let him blow you off.

Update

Thanks for the help. I did contact the Oklahoma Dental Assocoation and filed a complaint. They offered Mediation review. Once the dentist was contacted regarding this matter from the mediation review chair person, the dentist claimed he had no knowledge I was unhappy with his work and offered to write off the balance of the account and called off the collection agency. Thanks again.
