I was cited in an accident. I want legal advice, but my adjuster said insurance won't pay for an attorney until I get sued. Is this true? Will saying I want to push for 50-50 comparative negligence allow me to get an attorney? Or do I have to say I want to sue the other party? Meanwhile, am I to consider my adjuster my attorney?

Yep. You can hire one yourself.

Will saying I want to push for 50-50 comparative negligence allow me to get an attorney?
No.

Or do I have to say I want to sue the other party?
You will have to hire your own attorney, your insurance company will not pay for one if you sue.

Meanwhile, am I to consider my adjuster my attorney?
Does he/she have a sheepskin on the wall? If not, the answer is no.
