I owned two homes, one of which I could no longer afford, a mobile home. I explained this to the Mortgage Holder, who had no intentions of dealing with me. She could only answer me with a hangup in my face. She advised me that someone would be out to inspect the home. I needed to know when as we had installed dead bolts on both doors, I kept the home secure, and checked on it every other day. She stated she could not give me a date. On 02/03/00, one of the representatives from the company breaks down the door shattering wood, puts up a for sale sign in the window, and rips my lace curtains and curtain rods from both windows in the LR section of the home. I have spoken with people who had repo's and things were not handled that way. Problem #2--A sheriff's deputy came to serve the suit papers, I of course was not there, (I have not lived there in 4 years, the mortgage company knew this). He leaves a card. I call and explain that my work schedule is the same as their's and if the papers are sealed, can my friend who works nearby pick them up?? They state "no, you're the only one who can pick them up, we can't even tell you what they are over the phone". I explain with my work schedule, that I will be there ASAP. Today 03/02/00--the same deputy goes back to the same address. My sister-in-law lives next door to the mobile home. A neighbor from up the street pulls into the driveway and the deputy asks her of my whereabouts. He then proceeds to tell her he has papers to repossess my car. My car is paid for!!!!. I hated that the repossession had to occur, but the mobile home was 10 years old and no one wanted to pay what was owed on it. I paid 2 house payments for six months, but that was as far as I could go. My main question is . . . Do I have any legal recourse. My thing is this most of these actions, if not all, were uncalled for. Any help you can give will be greatly appreciatd. thanks. S. Geeslin - Alabama
