Hi,
I am a student at a university in Texas. About 4 weeks ago I was trying to register for classes for the next semester terms, but I found that I needed to obtain codes from the professor before I could enroll. I went down to the professor's office to ask for the class number needed. I was met with an attitude and a brush of the cold shoulder. The professor would not even speak to me or look at me, instead he kept walking away from me. I pleaded and told him to please listen to me, "my graduation relies on it." He became even more rude and told me he couldn't help me and that I would "graduate when you graduate." After this remark he began walking away again, and I said, "That is very professional of you." He quickly turned around, grabbed me by the arms, forced me up against the wall and got into my face and said, "If you want help this isn't the f***ing way to do it!" This happened in the hall in front of students (whose names and numbers I obtained) and left me and everyone who witnessed in shock. I must say the professor has a reputation for being an extreme jerk and treats most students with disrespect; however, when he got physical it was something I did not expect. I in no way acted inappropriate throughout the entire run-in and with the exception of the last remark, did not say anything or do anything that would warrant such a respone. I talked with the head of the department and he said it was a very serious matter; however, he has been trying to get me into the classes I need, in order to make this go away. The professor e-mailed me with an apology after the head of the department spoke with him and told me that he had spots open in the classes I wanted, and that he would give me the code. Well, I figured I could graduate and just leave the mess behind me; however, after accepting his apology he has begun to act in the same disrespectful manner. He sent me an invalid code via e-mail, and then told me that one of the classes I needed was full. So far, I have been admitted into only one class that I need. Sorry for the length, but my question is: Is this something I should pursue? Does it matter that I accepted his apology via e-mail? If I do pursue it, what are the chances something will actually happen to him? If I do pursue it, how should I go about it? Any other info will be greatly appreciated, thanks. Sorry for the length.
P.S. - The professor is teaching the one class I got into. Is this a good idea after what happened, to have him as one of my teachers?
